Women's League
WHO WE ARE and WHAT WE DO
The
Waterwood Women’s League (WWL) has been in existence since 1976.
Its purpose is to aid in the
quality of life of the women of Waterwood and surrounding areas and to
support annual local Scholarship
Funds. Each year, the WWL
gives out several 4 year college scholarships or 2 year technical
scholarships to students who are chosen by a committee of league
members. The recipients are
chosen based on a written paper that they submit to the committee and
certain academic requirements.
To date, over $86,300 in scholarships has been awarded.
Where does the money come from to support these
scholarships, you might ask?
The money comes from the yearly membership dues and a variety of
fundraisers that are held each year.
In the past, some of the fundraisers included a
Style Show,
No Show Ball, WWL Cookbook,
Bake Sales and Garage Sales.
This year the Garage Sale will be held on April 21, 2012 from 8 a.m. to
2.p.m., so mark your calendars.
It is a community wide sale which features a large variety of
items: clothing, jewelry, household items, furniture, kitchen items,
electronics, gardening items and plants, plus much more.
There will be raffle tickets to buy and food to eat.
You won’t want to miss this!
The WWL also supports charitable endeavors in the
area. Two of those charities are the
Coldspring CareShare Mission
- aiding local families with needed household and personal items and
Back Pack Buddies - providing
home meals for local needy school children.
Waterwood Women’s League is a great way to meet new
ladies in the area, learn something new and give back to the community.
Meetings are held each month, September through May, at an
interesting location, with an informative program and a great lunch.

out more about the WW L or wish to become a member, please contact

$20 per year and all the money collected goes toward the scholarship
fund. We’d love to have you
